Masumi Saito 

 Masumi Saito is a movement artist, mother, and choreographer at Theo Adams Company. She creates film works and live performances influenced by nature, spirits, and the Japanese way of being. She has presented her work at renowned venues worldwide, including HOME Manchester, ICA, Jerwood Space, and Kanazawa 21st Century Museum. The Nakanojo Biennale in Japan has commissioned her five times. 

At the heart of her creative exploration lies a profound inquiry into the relationship between self and surroundings. She delves into the depths of inner being with grace and authenticity, inviting audiences on a journey of introspection and self-discovery.

ロンドン在住 身体表現者
幼少の頃からモダンダンスを習い、2007年単身渡英。2008年 ロンドン・コンテンポラリー・ダンス・スクールを卒業後、主にイギリス国内で数々のソロパフォーマンスを発表。日本とヨーロッパで様々なスタイルのダンスに触れた後、独自の身体表現を確立。一般にいう踊りの舞台のみならず、様々な場でその活動の幅を広げている。多岐にわたる表現者たちとのコラボレーションや、論理的かつ感情的な空間を作り出すことを得意とする。

彼女の動きは激しく野性的、そして真っ直ぐで、観ているものの胸を痛めるほどに切ない。一度として同じではない舞台で、その瞬間の観客と自身が織り成す感情を、ありのままに飾り立てることなく表現する。空間や観客との表現を通しての対話を大切にしている。また近年は、その可能性を広げる為に、映像作品にも力を入れている。身体的言語をメディアを通して伝達することへの挑戦は彼女にアーティストしての新たな道を開いた。
